These are the house characteristics for each house
Hufflepuff:

Hufflepuffs are kind, loyal, fair, and hardworking. They are often construed as “the rest”, but they are in fact an important House of their own. Bono could be a Hufflepuff!

… For Hufflepuff, hard workers were
Most worthy of admission;

…You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;

Gryffindor:

Gryffindors are brave, loyal, and brash. Since Harry is a Gryffindor, they are the most glorified in the series, but each House has equal pluses and minuses. Joan of Arc is a good example of a Gryffindor!

…By Gryffindor, the bravest were
Prized far beyond the rest;

You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;

Ravenclaw:
Ravenclaws value wit, learning, and brains. They are smart, often analytical and enjoy learning, but can sometimes have their heads in the clouds. Albert Einstein is an obvious Ravenclaw!

… For Ravenclaw, the cleverest
would always be the best;

…Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
if you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;

Slytherin:

Slytherins are ambitious, cunning, mischevious, and loyal. Although often depicted as “evil”, this is really only their ambition shining through. Donald Trump is an excellent example of a would-be Slytherin!

…And power-hungry Slytherin
loved those of great ambition.

…Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folks use any means
To achieve their ends.
